So Bryce and I have been dating on and off for the majority of the last nine months. He is the love of my life, and makes me happier than anyone I've ever known. Even on our very first date... after Ariana made fun of me for going on a date when I had sworn off men for the semester... I couldn't stop smiling. Seriously my cheeks hurt so bad... but in a good way :)
So Bryce had this surprise date planned for me... All I knew was that I was supposed to be at his apartment at 5pm and that it was "kinda lame" (his words not mine). About an hour and a half before I was supposed to show up he texts me and says, "Oh yeah, you should bring a bathing suit." So I just figured that we were going hiking or something and then swimming at his apartment complex afterward. Well I got to his apartment a little late, but he wasn't there... so I waited a while with his roommates and after about 15 minutes I decided to give him a call. He told me that he went to the store and would be there in a couple of minutes.
When he walked in the apartment he told me to change into my bathing suit. After I looked at him with a puzzled look he's like, "OH YEAH, I forgot to tell you. We're going to a lake!" I got so excited! We had never gone to a lake before! So I changed and went out to the car. We started driving to his aunts house to pick up the boat, and he explained that the boat doesn't have oars...
"Is it a motor boat?"
"No"
"Then how will we steer it?"
"Well you can get behind it and kick us forward while I steer with my arms!... Never mind, you'll see it when we get there."
So we get to his aunt's house and the boat is a paddle boat. You know the kind that you steer by kicking with your feet.
IT WAS SO COOL!!!!
Anyways we get out to the lake and load the cooler onto the boat and start paddling. Well this just happened to be when the freak May monsoon storms decided to show up. so the wind was blowing in the opposite direction, and even if we paddled our hardest it seemed like we were getting no where. So we decided to set a goal, we were going to paddle out and around the far booey and come back. Well once we got out to the center of the lake the wind stopped so we decided to sit out in the middle of the lake and watch the sunset.
While we were sitting on the lake Bryce and I started talking about random things while he was wrestling around in the cooler (I thought he was pulling out dinner or something). Then he says, "Chelsey you know I love you right? I know I don't say it enough, but it's true! and you know that I want to spend eternity with you." Meanwhile he pulls out a bouquet of red roses, hands them to me, and pulls out a ring and says, "So Chelsey will you marry me?"
Well of course knowing me I had to have a blond moment, right then :) So I was just smiling, hugging him, smelling my roses, just unbelievably happy. Then I realized that I had never answered him, and I was like, "OH OF COURSE I'LL MARRY YOU!!!"
So I was hugging and kissing him, and I'm like, "I feel like Screaming!!!" and Bryce says, "Go ahead!" So I yell, "I'M ENGAGED!!!" and then I hear "It's about d*** time!" from the shore. It turned out that Bryce's roommates and Lance were there the whole time. :)
So that's how it happened! Not the most romantic but it was perfect!!! It fit our personalities and our relationship perfectly! And I wouldn't have had him ask any other way!
